You might call Backyard Tire Fire a rootless, roots rock band. Formed in 2001 in Asheville, North Carolina, the band moved to Athens, Georgia the following year, recorded their debut “Live At The Georgia Theater.” Following the self-titled studio debut the band moved again, this time to Bloomington, Illinois where they reside today. It was in Illinois that Matt joined brother Ed in the band.
Since the move to Illinois, the band has issued four critically acclaimed albums including 2007′s “Vagabonds and Hooligans,” and 2008′s “The Places We Lived.”
The guys stopped at Relay Recording during their “Places We Lived” tour in the Summer of 2008 to play a few songs off the record.
